Celebrating 70 Years of
Marriage
Gerald and Pauline
(Chris) Biernacki
On November 27, 2025, Gerald and Pauline
(Chris) Biernacki will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary.
Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, they met in
college; Jerry was a freshman and Chris a sophomore, and it was
love at first sight. At a time when their backgrounds might have
made them an unlikely couple, with Jerry the grandson of Polish
immigrants and Chris the daughter of first-generation Greek
parents; their shared values, faith, and sense of humor quickly
united them.
Jerry devoted his career to education,
retiring as Deputy Superintendent of Toledo Public Schools, while
Chris shared her love of literature as a 7th grade English teacher.
Their dedication to faith and community was evident through decades
of service at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Toledo.
Jerry served as President of the Parish Council, and Chris as
President of the Philoptochos Society. Together they led funeral
luncheons (makaria) and organized the beloved Young at Heart travel
and fellowship group, creating friendships and memories that have
lasted decades.
After 87 years in Toledo, Jerry and Chris
moved to Williamsburg, Virginia, to be closer to family. They are
the proud parents of two children, Greg (Pam) and Andrea (Jon),
five grandchildren, and eagerly await the arrival of their fifth
great-grandchild.
Their family and friends celebrate this
remarkable milestone, honoring Jerry and Chris for their enduring
love, devotion to one another, and faith that continues to inspire
all who know them.
