LEGAL NOTICE
Legal notice is given to all resident and
non resident owners of lots and lands in the City of Toledo, Lucas
County, Ohio, that on the 16th day of December, 2025, the Council
of the City of Toledo passed Ordinance No. 557-25 declaring it
necessary to control the blight and disease of shade trees within
public rights of way and provide for planting, maintaining,
trimming and removing shade trees in and along the streets of the
City in the Toledo Forestry District during calendar year 2026
(collectively, the Services).
The ordinance approves the plans, specifications, estimate
of cost and schedules for the Services, which were prepared by the
Commissioner of Urban Beautification and are now on file in his
office, and provides that $9,808,761 of the cost of the Services
shall be assessed in proportion to the benefits derived from the
Services upon all lots and lands bounding and abutting upon each of
the streets and public ways in the District. The special
assessments for the Services shall be paid in one annual
installment (two semi annual installments), with interest on the
unpaid principal amount thereof at the same rate as shall be borne
by the notes issued in anticipation of the collection of all of the
unpaid assessments, at the same time and in the same manner as ad
valorem property taxes; provided that the owner of any property
assessed may pay the special assessment in cash within 30 days
after the passage of the assessing ordinance in 2027.
The estimated special assessments for the Services based on
the estimate of cost are now on file in the office of the Clerk of
Council and available for inspection by any interested person.
Objections to the special assessments may be filed in
writing in the office of the Clerk of Council on or before January
31, 2026.
