NOTICE OF PROVIDING ORDINANCE
2026 Sidewalk Program
Legal notice is given to all resident and non-resident
owners of lots and lands in the City of Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio,
that on the 2nd day of December, 2025 the Council of the City of
Toledo passed Resolution No. 532-25 declaring it necessary and
providing for the rehabilitation of sidewalks and driveway
approaches on various streets in the City of Toledo listed in
resolution 532-25 for the 2026 Sidewalk Program.
The resolution declares the need for and intent to repair
existing or construct new sidewalks in conjunction with the
City’s annual sidewalk rehabilitation program. That the
plans, specifications, and estimated cost of the proposed
rehabilitation by reconstructing or installing new sidewalks,
including driveway approaches and curbs, heretofore filed in the
Office of the Clerk of Council are approved, and that owners of the
lots and lands abutting thereon shall cause said rehabilitation to
be made before the end of 2026 in accordance with the
specifications on file in the Office of the Clerk of Council. That
the entire cost of the 2026 sidewalk program (presently estimated
at $3,400,000) shall be assessed in proportion to the special
benefits that result from the program upon the lots and lands
bounding and abutting upon the streets and public ways listed in
Resolution No. 532-25. The special assessments for the Services
shall be paid in one annual installment (two semi-annual
installments)over a period of ten(10) years, with interest on the
unpaid principal amount thereof at the same rate as shall be borne
by the notes or bonds issued in anticipation of the collection of
all of the unpaid assessments, at the same time and in the same
manner as ad valorem property taxes; provided that the owner of any
property assessed may pay the special assessment in cash within 30
days after the passage of the assessing ordinance in 2027. Any
conflicting provisions of the Sidewalk Policy of The City of Toledo
are waived.
The estimated special assessments for the Services based on
the estimate of cost are now on file in the office of the Clerk of
Council and available for inspection by any interested person.
Property owners wishing to appeal the decision to require
repairs, may appear at the Board of Revision hearing on February
13, 2026 at 10 a.m. in City Council Chambers at One Government
Center, 1st Floor, 640 Jackson St., Toledo, Ohio 43604.
