RESTROOM & LOCKER ROOM ALTERATIONS FOR
SYLVANIA
TOWNSHIP FIRE STATION 64
Sealed bids for the above project will be received at the
Office of the Board of Trustees of Sylvania Township, Lucas County,
Ohio, 4927 N. Holland-Sylvania Road, Sylvania Ohio 43560, until
2:00 P.M., local time, on Monday, August 24, 2026. Bids will be
publicly opened and read at 2:05 P.M., local time, on Monday,
August 24, 2026, unless extended by written notice. Addenda of the
change shall be given to all persons who have received the bid
documents of record no later than 72 hours prior to the date fixed
for such opening.
The above design work includes the furnishing of all labor,
equipment, materials, appurtenances, and incidentals required for
the above project in accordance with the documents prepared by
Architecture by Design. The bid documents may be examined at the
Township offices or at Architecture by Design. Bid documents may be
purchased from Becker Impressions Plan Room in either paper format
or download at
https://www.beckerplanroom.com. Addenda will be
distributed through the same means to the plan holders of record.
All contractors and subcontractors involved with the project
will, to the extent practicable, use Ohio products, materials,
services, and labor in the implementation of the project.
Preference will be given to contractors having their principal
place of business in Ohio over contractors having their principal
place of business in a state which provides a preference in that
state in favor of contractors of that state for the same type of
work.
Construction work shall be subject to the prevailing wage
rates established by the Ohio Department of Industrial Relations.
Each bidder must ensure that all employees and applicants for
employment are not discriminated against because of race, creed,
sex, disability, or military status as defined in Section 4112.01
of the Revised Code.
No contract shall be entered into unless the bidder
possesses a valid certificate of compliance with affirmative action
programs issued pursuant to section 9.47 of the Revised Code and
dated no earlier than one hundred eighty days prior to the date
fixed for the opening of bids for a particular project.
Architect’s Estimate for the project is $160,000.00.
Each bid shall be accompanied by a bid guaranty in the form
of 1) a certified check, or cashier’s check, or letter of
credit, equal to ten percent (10%) of the bid; or 2) a bid guaranty
bond for the full amount of the bid; both forms of a guaranty as
provided in Ohio Revised Code 153.54 and in the project
specifications. The amount of the bid for said guaranty purposes
should include all additive and deductive alternates. All bid
guaranties shall be conditioned that if the bid is accepted within
sixty (60) days of the opening, a proper contract shall be
executed, and that upon failure or refusal to enter into said
contract within ten (10) days after receipt of notification of
award the bidder and the surety on any bond shall be liable to the
township in an amount not to exceed ten percent (10%) of the bid.
At the option of the Sylvania Township Trustees, such bond/check
will be returned to all except the apparent low bidder: however,
the bond/checks of all unsuccessful bidders will be returned
immediately upon award of the contract or the rejection of all
bids.
Ohio Revised Code Section 153.12 prohibits the Sylvania
Township Trustees from awarding a bid if the price is more than
twenty percent (20%) more than said estimated cost.
A contract will be awarded to the lowest and best bidder who
meets the requirements of ORC Section 153.54. The Sylvania Township
Trustees reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive any
informalities or irregularities in the bids received, and to accept
any bid or combination of bids which is deemed most favorable to
the Township at the time and under the conditions stipulated. Terms
of payment are as provided in Chapter 153 of the Ohio Revised Code.
Work shall not begin prior to the authorization in writing by the
Board of Township Trustees. The work shall be substantially
completed within 6 months of notice to proceed.
